Our Bear Clothing collection wasn't designed after a quick Google search. It comes from years of bear runs, pub nights, Pride weekends and conversations that usually start with, "Where'd you get that shirt?" That's the gear we wanted to make.

No generic paw prints. No "Live, Laugh, Bear" nonsense. Just original artwork with a bit of attitude, a bit of humour and a genuine understanding of the community it's made for.

What's in This Collection?

  • Gay bear shirts that get compliments at the bar.

Designed by Bears, Not Marketing Teams

We're not a company that discovered bears during Pride Month.

We're two gay guys who've been part of the community for years. We know the difference between something you'd actually wear to a bear event and something that looks like it came from a corporate brainstorming session.

Some designs are cheeky. Some are sexy. Some are just a little ridiculous. That's the point.

Made for More Than Pride

Whether you're heading to your local bear night, a weekend away, a leather event or just grabbing coffee with mates, these are the shirts you'll keep reaching for because they actually feel like you.

Why Backroom Gear?

We don't make bear clothing for everyone.

We make it for bears.

Find your pride. Find your pack.

Bear FAQ's

What is Bear Pride?

The bear community is a well-known part of LGBTQIA+ culture that celebrates body positivity, masculinity, camaraderie and humour. Bears are typically larger, hairier men, but the community is welcoming to anyone who connects with the culture and attitude. Bear Pride apparel often features bold graphics, humour and symbols connected to the bear flag and bear community events.

The Bear Pride flag is a symbol of the global bear community within LGBTQIA+ culture. The stripes represent both the natural hair and skin tones of people in the community and the colours of bears found in the wild. Designed in 1995 by Craig Byrnes, the flag features seven colours — brown, rust, gold, tan, white, grey and black — along with the iconic bear paw print. Today it is widely seen at bear runs, Pride festivals and LGBTQ events around the world.

Bear fashion tends to favour comfortable, masculine clothing such as graphic t-shirts, tank tops, hoodies and leather gear. Many bears prefer clothing that fits properly and reflects the humour and personality of the community. Bear Pride apparel often includes bold graphics, cheeky slogans and designs that celebrate confidence and individuality.

Backroom Gear designs its Bear Pride apparel to fit real bodies. Most items in the collection are available from XS to 5XL, with sizing chosen to suit a wide range of builds. Because each item is printed to order, we can offer inclusive sizing without needing to limit designs to a small size range.

Bear Pride apparel is designed to be worn anywhere you want to show your personality and connection to the bear community. Many people wear bear shirts, tanks and hoodies to Pride festivals, bear runs, leather nights, and LGBTQIA+ bars and clubs. They’re also popular for casual everyday wear, whether that’s meeting friends, heading to a social event, or travelling to bear gatherings around the world. Because Bear Pride clothing often features bold graphics and humour, it’s a great way to signal community, start conversations, and celebrate the culture in a relaxed, confident way.
